抄録: This report focuses upon inquiring how a mid-career teacher copes with one’s crisis as a teaching profession in this difficult era. Teachers have suffered for so many and inconsistent educational reforms since the 1990’s in Japan. Teacher stress is increasing gradually during the period of these educational reforms. Therefore now it is more difficult for teachers to promote their professional development than before. However some teachers seem to realize their professional developments as a practitioner despite of such a difficult situation. I explore the life story of one teacher who has promoted his professional development by restructuring his own teaching and try to show the possibility of teacher’s professional development in this knowledge society.</summary>

    <summary type="text">タイトル: 英語科目におけるオブザベーションウィーク（相互授業参観）の試み

抄録: The purpose of this article is to report the outcome and findings of a peer observation called “the Observation Week,” which was conducted by the English Group at Tokyo Keizai University for 3 years, from 2006 to 2008. During the Observation Week, all the English Communication I courses were open for free observation among English instructors. It was confirmed that the Observation Week provides valuable on the job training to teach small-sized conversation classes, which are not yet popular at Japanese universities. At the same time, it was pointed out that mutual trust among instructors is essential to successful peer observation.</summary>
