Abstract

Whole rock major and trace element compositions were reported for seven granitic rocks from the Satsuma Peninsula in southern Kyushu, determined by XRF and INAA. Similarity of both major and trace element composition of the granitic rocks in the Satsuma Peninsula with those of I-type granitic rocks of the Outer Zone Kyushu was shown. This fact supports that they should be included in Miocene granitic rocks in the Outer Zone of southwest Japan, which had been suggested based on their radiometric ages.
